CultureHub is a video blog of sorts, but we hate that word! Call it an online video cast. Just rolls off the tongue, doesn't it?
Lately, it's place where Nick writes about his experience as an exchange student in Sweden. We have a wide catalog of live footage from concerts across the southern New Brunswick. If you dig way back into the archives, you'll also find some video clips of public demonstrations and lectures.
History
Nick launched the site in August 2007 starting with some rough and little-edited coverage of the Post Secondary Education Commission Report. The following year, CultureHub started covering the Saint John music scene. In the fall of 2008, Arif joined the team allowing for 2-camera shoots. When he has the time, Jon adds a 3rd camera. Nick and Arif co-edit most of the videos.
The Contributors
 Nick has lived a free and wonderful life in Saint John since his birth, until 2004 when he sold his soul to UNBSJ. It is there where he works in IT, studies for his Bachelor degree, and volunteers at Campus Radio Saint John. In August 2009, Nick was kidnapped, stuffed in a crate and shipped to Sweden. |
 Upon clearing quarantine on Partridge Island, Arif began his studies at UNBSJ in the fall of 2000. He has since finished his Bachelor and is now working on a Masters degree. Arif is also an executive member and talk show host at Campus Radio Saint John. |

FAQ
My band's playing this weekend, we're hosting an event, we're throwing an awesome party. Wanna film?
Sure, I think ... maybe. There are two deciding factors:
1) What is the date, time and length of your event? We do this in our spare time, so this bit of information is a great help.
2) Does your event fit the CultureHub ethos? It's true we're pretentious jerks, but what we really mean by this is that we don't film weddings or bar mitzvahs. Unless you wanna pay our tuition.
Can I have copy of the footage or audio?
If it's your performance or event, you are entitled to a copy! Get a hold of us and we can make arrangements to send you a digital copy. We're also more than happy to help you embed it on your website.
A hard copy is a whole different kettle of fish. We don't burn Sharpie labeled DVDs. We try our best to send you a product that looks semi professional, which can take a while . A product we can't be proud of is a product we have no interest in producing. So feel free to ask, but please be patient.
What is CultureHubTV?
This is where you can catch live streaming video of local music events as CultureHub films it! When we aren't live you can catch reruns of previously recorded events. Eventually we plan to use this channel to stream raw and uncut footage of entire concerts.
Don't take this the wrong way, but the videos are pretty grainy and shaky. Ever think of using a tripod and more lighting?
A full lighting kit can be pretty obtrusive for the audience and performers, so we normally don't setup our own lighting. As for the shakiness ... I duno, I just find shooting from a tripod pretty boring.
